What is A Niche Anyway?

A niche really is another word for a product or area of expertise. You can make money with anything though. Whether your keyword numbers are large or small…there is usually a way to profit from it.

I prefer Hot Niches not those that are obscure. I like to hunt for keywords, I really enjoy it when I have time.

Niches that have an upward trend and those that are either buying keyword niches or “evergreen” niches, meaning they are great all year.

Choosing An Affiliate Marketing Niche

Why is it that so many of us have such a problem pulling the niche affiliate marketing trigger?

It’s like we have only one shot and if we misfire, that’s it. Foiled again. Others can succeed online, but not us.

Bull! Didn’t you ever hear, “If at first you don’t succeed…”? We’ve let the uncertainty of success frighten us into utter inaction. This really happens, all too often…

I can’t tell you how many times my partner and I have sat by in dismay as a potential client for our website building service hemmed and hawed his indecisive way to doing…nothing. The inability to choose a niche to promote, and actually get started, has put a stop to many a dream.

On today’s web, niche affiliate marketing is king among the work from home crowd. Whatever products or services you decide to promote, just build a website and get going. Plan on adding fresh content regularly, and you should do quite well.

Don’t get hung up trying to choose a business niche. It shouldn’t be that hard. Do you love Jack Russell Terriers? Badminton? Rock polishing? What do you like to do with your free time? Are you considered an authority on something? Is there a product or service you believe you could promote better than those now doing so? It doesn’t matter what you choose — you can make money online with it.

This is what many people just can’t understand:

You can sell anything online. And you can make money doing it. Whatever it is you’re into, whatever it is you enjoy doing, you can bet your bottom dollar that there are at least 5,000 other folks looking for input or info on that very thing right now, online. Probably countless more.

When setting up an internet business, it’s way more important that you’re really into whatever you’re marketing or promoting. So, what turns your crank? What would you do as a job for no pay? Whatever it is, that’s your niche. You’ve found the perfect subject for your website.

There’s no need to get hung up trying to figure out if your choice will make money or not. In my experience, the most unlikely ideas quite often turn out to be real winners. The opposite is also true – some of the best ideas we’ve seen have turned out to be flops.

Why?

Often it’s because of that certain passion I mentioned – that is, it wasn’t really there for the clients. Working on a website was less fun than they’d hoped. It actually was work. This made all the little, mostly fun, tasks involved with running a website actually seem like chores.

None of this is a problem if you actually love and enjoy everything to do with your new business. When a visitor to your site sends an email, you’re anxious to read it and respond. You love looking for and adding new content to your website.

Just give it some thought. Try not to over think it. Decide what you’d most enjoy doing and go for it. Find a good webmaster or build your own niche affiliate marketing website. If you’re computer challenged you can always have someone help get you going.

I Love Crowd Mountain

You can expect to see lots of posts from me about Crowd Mountain. I joined several months ago and Im VERY Impressed. I did the best job I could trying to give screen shots on how to install wordpress and walk people through the basic steps of internet marketing But Michelle Macphearson has really done a great job with her affiliate tutorials. The easiest way to make money online in my opinion is with Amazon. Register with Amazon here. They have 10,000 more products than ebay, they are more trusted than ebay and ebay is not really accepting new affiliates anyway. You should really get a website host and your own blog or (store would be even better) that you own so that you will own the site. Free blogs are nice but they are not reliable and they are not yours. Amazon converts very well even though they only have a 24 hour cookie. The reason is because customers usually buy immediately and they dont have to wait for an auction to end. If they put anything in their shopping cart with your cookie you will get commission and that cookie lasts for 90 days.

O.K. so let me get started. As an affiliate you have to know how to find your niche market. And this is by no means easy and I have made a mistake on this too. So let me explain. The niche market is a smaller market of a big market. So for example. The big market is baby items, but the smaller or niche market is baby stroller or baby monitor. Also, sporting goods are the big market, while parent sporting equipment is a smaller market. So the niche is a more specific more defined market. Almost all successful affiliates are niche marketers. I personally when I started this business was all over the place. I was trying to promote everything that came to mind. If I saw a lot of keywords in one market, I was all excited and ran to build a website about it. What happens is that it is very hard to market all of the products.

I do not spend money on my traffic, or should I say very little of it. All of my traffic is free traffic and I learned that at AFFILORAMA, which is a great place to get your business started, but here I will show you the basics. To really succeed in this business you need to keep yourself educated at all times.

O.k. back to niche market. You really need to understand this to make it successful. So pick one major market you know something about, and you need to narrow it down. Maybe you know a lot about new phones, or computers, or sporting events. Maybe you camp a lot, so that would be a larger market you select and you need to dig deeper to establish yourself.

If you are totally new to the affiliate marketing here is a brief explanation of what it is!

Basically, it is a way for you to recommend other people’s products. It is a system of advertising where you refer another company’s product from either your website or an informational article and you make a commission if that person buys a product through your link. Different companies have a different cookie retention. Some will save your “cookie” (way to track your ID) in for 7 days and some up to a year. It really depends on the company and the program.
Simply put, you will be an Internet Marketer who Promotes Products for other different merchants.

For example! Let’s say you wanted to lose weight. You will turn to Internet for information. Through out the research you will be lead from one site to the next one. By the end of your search you will most likely find what you were looking for and buy it! That is what almost all people do online! Your job here is going to be to market your site and get them at that final purchasing leg! Let me give you an example! Let say I was searching for a way to lose weight. I will start with the top 10 diets (information mode). That would be initial keyword I type in! But as I move on I learn that I need to speed up my metabolism to lose weight! Well the keyword that will be my final purchase point will be speed up metabolism diet!

Lets say you were promoting baby carriers. The best baby carrier will be original information word I would type in, but as I learn there are couple popular brands such as Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier, (this means person is at the last leg of the purchasing cycle!) Next lesson will be about keyword research.

It is the same with products. The person who is looking for a general word such as “the best toy” is just in information mode, but the person who is searching for “power ranger toy” is someone who already knows what they want! So lets say you are going to promote toys, you need to narrow down what kind of toys. Inflatable, plush, video game toys etc. The store that has all kinds of toys is hard to market, but the niche store is easy! You can expand your niche store as you move on, but start with one and than expand. I will explain more about that later.
